John Balla, Vice President- Rentals/Manufacturing

Mr. Balla specializes in the design, manufacturing, installation and operation of temporary groundwater treatment systems utilizing such treatment technologies as gravity settling, metals precipitation, clarification, oil/water separation, mechanical filtration, carbon adsorption (liquid and vapor phase), air stripping (packed column and tray aeration), diffused aeration, ion exchange, and pH adjustment. He has also been involved in the design and execution of pilot scale projects relating to dual phase extraction and soil vapor extraction.

From 2003 to 2015, Mr. Balla was the Rentals Division Manager of GWTT. In this capacity, his responsibilities included engineering and process design; estimating; scheduling; project management; supervision of shop/field personnel; and financial reporting of all projects within the division. In addition, he managed the company’s extensive inventory of rental treatment equipment and all shop personnel (technicians, electricians, and welders).  In June of 2015, Mr. Balla became the Vice President of Rentals/Manufacturing. In this role, Mr. Balla is responsible for GWTT’s Rentals business as well as GWTT’s New Equipment Division which specializes in the design and manufacturing of skid mounted and trailer mounted remediation equipment.

Prior to joining GWTT, Mr. Balla served as Senior Project Engineer and then National Sales Manager for a manufacturer and designer of municipal/industrial scale water treatment equipment specializing in packed column air stripping systems for drinking water applications.  A recognized expert in packed column air stripping technology, Mr. Balla has written numerous technical publications and made presentations on this topic. He also formerly served as Project Manager with a large construction company specializing in field-erected cooling towers for utility clients.

He has over 25 years of experience in the water treatment industry and holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Virginia Tech and an MBA in Industrial Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
