EPA News

On May 29, EPA Region 9 issued a Safe Drinking Water Act Section 1431 Unilateral Administrative Order to the U.S. Air Force and the Arizona Air National Guard, related to their responsibilities for protecting drinking water supplies in Tucson, including communities with environmental justice concerns.

The order requires the the military organizations to “conduct measures to abate the actual and potential imminent and substantial threat to the health of persons presented by the presence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (collectively “PFAS”) in groundwater underlying the Tucson Area Remediation Project (“TARP”) water well field, which serves as an important source of drinking water for the public water system that serves the City of Tucson,” according to an EPA Region 9 press release.

If you have an upcoming or existing project that has, or you may believe could have, PFAS-impacted groundwater, GWTT is here to help. Please contact us and a remediation expert will get in touch with you as soon as possible.
