Oil Water Separation Project Description
GWTT was contracted to to design, build, operate, and maintain two 500 GPM oil-water treatment systems at the Dunwoodie Substation in Yonkers, NY.
The systems were designed to meet an effluent discharge requirement of 10 PPM of oil and grease at an influent rate of 500 GPM. Each system consisted of an oil-water separator, transfer pumps, bag filters and was prefabricated in a shipping container in GWTT’s shop in Wharton, New Jersey. Two 10,000 lb granular activated carbon units provided the final treatment before discharge to a local manhole.
GWTT set the treatment systems in place utilizing a 65-ton crane and installed HDPE piping from the client’s drainage basin to the systems, carbon units, and discharge point.
Automatic controls were built into the system to prevent exceeding any pressure or level limits of the treatment components. Work was completed on schedule and without a loss time or environmental incident.
