Project Narrative

GWTT was contracted to provide a short-term pilot study rental treatment system for the concept and design prove out of a biovent system. After the pilot study was successfully concluded, GWTT was selected to construct a full-size treatment system. The system was used to biovent for remediation of vadose zone soil contamination. Site electrical services included permit assistance and onsite installation of new meter pan, buried electrical supply from meter to treatment system, and connection of electrical to system.

System components included: Two regenerative blowers, operated via VFDs, with exterior air filter/silencer intakes with differential pressure transmitters and gauges; Flow rate, pressure, and temperature transmitters and gauges on each blower exhaust line for monitoring blower performance; Pressure relief valves on each blower exhaust line at a setting to be protective of downstream equipment and piping; A bypass line on each blower exhaust for altering system flow rates manually; A heat exchange on each blower line to reduce the temperature of the blower exhaust; Flow rate, pressure, and temperature transmitters and gauges after each heat exchanger for monitoring the air being conveyed to the biovent wells; Motorized actuated ball valves to control the flow of air to each biovent header pipe; Valves and sample ports to control and monitor flow through the system; Weather-proof enclosure with general electrical circuits (e.g., instrumentation, controls, heating/ventilation, lighting, electrical outlets, etc.), ventilation for the heat exchangers, general heating and ventilation, and a man door accessway.
