Project Narrative
GWTT was contracted to design, install, operate, and maintain two dewatering systems and a 325-GPM temporary water treatment system in support of the dewatering activities at a highly visible DEP landfill transformation project. The project entailed capping a former landfill and converting the property into a beautiful new park adjacent to the Delaware River. GWTT’s dewatering scope involved lowering the water table at two areas of the site in support of exaction for a new kayak channel and fishing pond. Water from the dewatering systems was directed to a GWTT designed and operated water treatment system prior to discharge to a tributary of the Delaware River.
The dewatering systems consisted of over 4,750 LF of header piping, 550 predrilled well points, and three electric dewatering pumps (two primary and one backup). The treatment system consisted of two influent tanks with an aeration blower, transfer pumps, a coagulant and a flocculant injection system with mix tank and clarifier, another set of transfer pumps, sand media filters, bag filters, and two 10,000 lbs. carbon vessels. Moreover, GWTT electrical/I&C personnel interlocked the dewatering system and treatment system with auto dialer alarm capabilities.
Additionally, GWTT provided on-site carbon change out services throughout the project.
The discharge permit required a licensed N3 operator who GWTT provided with support from licensed N2 operators also provided by GWTT. At project completion, all equipment was demobilized from the site.
