Project Narrative
GWTT was contracted by a Federal Government engineering consultant to construct a water treatment system to address a municipal drinking water well near a large military installation that was impacted by PFAS. GWTT was responsible for completing all civil, building, electrical, and mechanical work within a tight schedule. Due to space limitations at the project site, a large retaining wall was originally proposed to allow installation of the new treatment plant building. However, this proved to be cost-prohibitive and GWTT worked with the design engineer to come up with an alternative, stabilized slope as a solution.
A 1,200-sf, pre-engineered steel building was erected to house the new 500-GPM GAC treatment system. The GAC system included two 20,000-pound adsorbers. The new treatment system was connected to the existing filtration plant using 6” and 8” ductile iron pipe. New controls and instrumentation were installed to integrate the new system to the existing SCADA system.
